Loot Seller

About & Methodology

Loot Seller measures prices on the DonutSMP auction house and publishes them as charts, history, and a JSON API. This page states exactly what is measured, how, how often, and what the numbers do and do not mean.

Price methodology v1.0 · USD reference rate methodology v1.0 · effective August 2026

What Loot Seller is

An independent, automated price index for a public in-game market. Loot Seller observes the DonutSMP auction house continuously and records what is listed there. Nothing is estimated, modelled, or crowd-sourced, and no figure is ever edited by hand — every number began as a real listing that was publicly visible.

The project began in July 2026. It is not affiliated with DonutSMP, Mojang, or Microsoft, and has no commercial relationship with the server.

What is collected, and how often

PropertyValue
SourceThe public DonutSMP auction house
MethodAutomated and continuous — no manual entry, no user submissions
CoverageA curated list of frequently traded items, currently 67
FrequencyContinuous; each item is re-observed roughly every 10 minutes
Chart aggregationHourly OHLC buckets, rolled up to daily for longer views
CurrencyDonutSMP in-game coins, unless a figure is explicitly marked USD

Every observation carries its own timestamp, so freshness is reported per item rather than as a single site-wide figure. If an item has not been seen recently, its page says so.

What the terms mean

Cheapest single (floor)
The lowest total price on any current listing of that item, regardless of how many are in the listing.
Full stack
The lowest total price on a listing containing a complete stack. Only shown for items that stack.
Top buy order
The highest standing per-unit bid anyone has placed for that item.
Flip margin
The gap between the top buy order and the cheapest listing — what you would make buying at one and selling at the other, before any fees.
USD reference value
An in-game price converted at the USD reference rate below. An analytical estimate of real-world worth, not a price at which anything is sold.

The USD reference rate

Every price on this site is denominated in a currency that inflates. A chart going up can mean the item became more valuable, or that the currency became less valuable — and from inside the game those are indistinguishable. The reference rate is an outside yardstick that separates them.

It is measured from public listings on third-party marketplaces where DonutSMP currency is traded, polled every 15 minutes, and filtered to offers a normal buyer could realistically transact against:

Every raw poll is archived before the index is computed, so a future methodology can be recalculated over real history rather than starting from zero. See the live rate and its current spread →

Methodology versioning

The calculation is fixed at v1.0. Changing a filter or the depth target would make points before and after the change incomparable — a silent break that looks exactly like a real market move. If the methodology ever changes, it will be published as a new version under a new series name, and the existing series will be left intact rather than retroactively altered.

What Loot Seller does not do

Loot Seller does not sell DonutSMP items, currency, or accounts. It does not facilitate real-money trading, does not broker or escrow trades, and does not link to anyone who does.

USD figures anywhere on this site are analytical reference values derived from observing public third-party listings. They describe what a currency appears to be worth. They are not offers, quotes, or invitations to trade.

Limitations

Using the data

All of it is available as JSON, free and without authentication for the public endpoints — including current prices, hourly and daily history, buy orders, the tracked-item list, and the current USD reference rate. See the API documentation.

If you publish anything derived from it, a link back to lootseller.io is appreciated but not required.
